As part of National Science Week, the Dove Marine Laboratory offers emerging marine enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in a novel research challenge. Pupils will identify a problem or issue connected to the marine environment that interests them and devise a research solution to this problem. The possible topics covered are very broad ranging, and could include for example a technological solution for oil exploration, a scientific research theme on climate change and oceans or an ecological investigation into marine communities. The scope is only limited by the pupils creativity and innovation.
The winning teams will gain hands on experience in undertaking research for the day in North-east waters on board the scientific research vessel. The expedition will depart from Royal Quays Marina at 10am on the 18th March 2010.
